Age and Breast Cancer Risk

About 1 in 7 women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime and the commonest age is after the menopause between 50-60 years of age. About 80% of breast cancers occur after age 50. However, it can still occur in young women although it is very rare (about 1 in 1000 under 25 yr . As you get older the risk  gradually increases. Hence it is important to stay healthy to try and reduce your risk as much as possible.
