Dr Michelle Ferris

MBBS MRCGP DCH DRCOG DFSRH

Michelle qualified from University College London Medical School UCLMS, then trained as a GP on the Ealing Hospitals Vocational Training Scheme. She joined Lane End Medical Group in North-West London as a GP partner. She has been involved in undergraduate education throughout her career: as a Clinical Tutor at UCLMS, in paediatrics, IBSc in Primary Care, and as a Pastoral Tutor; in postgraduate education for GP registrars and for the in-house Practice education programme, for the partners at Lane End. Her research focus is on breast cancer causation and genetics.

She has an Honorary Contract in Oncogenetics from the Institute of Cancer Research. Her additional role as school medical officer at NLCS facilitated combining these skill sets to develop the BYB programme, of which she is a co- founder and director. She is an expert advisor to the Jewish BRCA NHS screening programme. She retired from General Practice in 2023.

Dr Michelle Newman.

MBBS, DRCOG, DFSRH

Michelle is a part-time GP Principal at Lane End Medical Group in North-West London with interests in women’s health care and paediatrics. She has been involved with undergraduate and postgraduate education throughout her career as a Clinical Tutor at UCLMS.

For 3 years she sat as a ‘Primary Care Lead‘at the Barnet CCG. She has been part of the BYB team since its inception with her current role as a BYB director. 

Dr Simone Shelley

MBBS MRCGP DRCOG

Having qualified as a doctor in 1983, Simone worked as a GP in the NW London area for 30 years with 18 years at Lane End Medical Group. She retired from clinical work in 2019.

She has been involved in medical education throughout her career and is currently a GP Tutor teaching medical students at UCLMS.

She works charitably to fund Multiple Sclerosis research.

She has been a BYB presenter since 2014 and is now one of the directors. Simone has collaborated on the HRT impact on breast cancer for BYB.

Dr. Niro Kugenderan

MBBS MRCGP DRCOG RCGPathME

Niro qualified as a doctor from St George’s, University of London in 2012. She qualified as a General Practitioner in 2019 and currently works in North London.

After meeting Dr Ferris at one of her training placements she was keen to get involved in BYB.

She enjoys spending time with her family and friends.

Dr Christina Papadopoulos

MB BS BSc (hons) MRCGP DFSRH

Level 3 certificate in nutrition in health and physical activity

Christina is a mum and GP with over 12 years of experience in both the NHS and private sector.

 She has particular interests in peri-menopause, nutrition, wellbeing and burnout.

After experiencing burnout herself, she is currently working as a digital GP in the private sector and as a fitness studio GP, focusing on health promotion.

In 2024 she completed the Level 3 Award in Nutrition for Physical Activity and is now working towards becoming an accredited menopause practitioner with the BMS.

She is a BYB presenter.

Dr Fabianne Viner

MBBS, BSc, MRCGP, GPwERLM

Fabianne finished her training on the Barnet GP Vocational Training Scheme having graduated from UCLMS. Whilst at UCL, she sought an extra degree in Primary Health Care where she began research and became involved in BYB as a presenter.

Part of this research involved planning an Instagram platform for BYB. She also arranged the presentation of the BYB programme in Manchester 

She has experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Oncology.

She has also worked in Public Health.

Her interests include lifestyle and preventative medicine, in which she gained certification, and using medical technology and innovation to enhance care.

Sara Barnett

RM, RGN, BA (Hons), PGCE

A qualified nurse, midwife and adult educator, Sara is a research midwife at Imperial College, working at both St. Mary’s and Queen Charlotte’s Hospitals as a clinical coordinator and recruiter for maternal health and paediatric studies.

Since joining Imperial in 2011 Sara has facilitated varied NIHR portfolio maternal, neonatal and reproductive research projects.

Sara is an academic tutor for Imperial medical students and is the NIHR Midwifery Research Champion for North West London, supporting midwives, promoting research within the midwifery community and encouraging diversity and inclusion in research.

Mrs. Stephanie Reitman

BA(Econ)Hons.

Stephanie has been the PA and Administrator to the BYB team since 2021. In this role she liaises directly with the schools and universities, other external organisations and acts as PA to all the clinical team.

She has an economics degree from The University of Manchester and worked in banking following this.

After having her family she ran a small invitation design and printing business.

She has done voluntary work for many years including mentoring young apprentices at an accountancy firm, supporting reading at a local primary school and is currently a hospital volunteer.
